    Hancock County ESC
Job Title: Aide/Paraprofessional
Location: Van Buren Campus - HS Multiple Disabilities Classroom (Grades 10-12)

Job Description:

  • Candidate should have a great deal of patience to work with students with multiple disabilities and/or behavioral issues.
  • Candidate should have a passion for working with students of high school age and be willing to assist with toileting and personal healthcare as needed.
  • May travel with student to general education classroom and monitor/assist student in setting.
  • Provide appropriate support and encouragement to students.
  • Assist students with class work in small groups and individually.
  • Work under the supervision/direction of the classroom teacher.
  • Ride a school bus from the ESC to Van Buren daily (and back to the ESC) to monitor students.

Contract days: 192 days per year/approximately 7 hours per day in the classroom and one hour bus ride daily in the a.m. and p.m.

    Hancock County ESC
Job Title: Part-Time Teachers (Grades 9-12: Math, Science, ELA & Social Studies)
Location: Alternative Opportunity Center (AOC) Digital School

1 or 2 days per week (7 hours per day)

Responsibilities include:

  • Monitor student academic progress and assist students (directly and virtually) through successful on-line course completion in a classroom setting 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. (6 hours).
  • Provide an additional hour of electronic content area instructional support to students.
  • Grade student work and provide constructive feedback as needed in one of the core content areas (i.e. reviewing extended response answers, essays and/or other written assignments that the on-line program does not grade).
  • Communicate student academic progress with parents on a regular basis.
  • Communicate student academic progress with AOC Digital School Coordinator.
  • Assist with implementing state and/or standardized testing.
  • Assist in the on-going development and improvement of curriculum, assessment and instructional programs of the Hancock County Alternative Opportunity Center Digital School.
  • Candidates should possess appropriate Ohio teaching license.
  • Candidates must have excellent communication skills.
  • Experience working with students in grades 9-12.
  • Experience in the use of technology and/or ability to learn new technology tools quickly.
  • Successful FBI/BCI fingerprinting.
  • Teaching experience preferred (ideal position for a retired teacher).

Compensation: Based on education and experience.
