On the evening of January 25th, students from the area elementary and middle schools participated in this year’s Hancock County Spelling Bee that was held at the Marathon Center for The Performing Arts. Thomas Sachenko, an 8th grader at Arlington Middle School, Arlington Local Schools, was the Champion of this year’s event by correctly spelling the word- elaborative. The Runner-Up was 5th grader, Josh Schroeder, from Van Buren Elementary, Van Buren Local Schools. Plaques were awarded to the top two finishers, medals were given to those who placed third through seventh, and all participants were given certificates of participation.
All awards were provided by the Hancock County Educational Service Center.
